Join Section Five to endorse the basic principles and purposes of the Section:
- To foster diversity and support pluralism in psychoanalytic psychology
- To encourage technical and theoretical innovation while preserving fundamental psychoanalytic values
- To provide accessible forums for communication among members
- To develop programs to meet members' needs
The many programs and activities of the section include:
- Our online Continuing Professional Education program, "Turning Point Papers in Psychoanalysis," has a growing menu of outstanding courses, all of which are now accepted for CPE credit in all licensing jurisdictions. Unique among CPE programs, ours is completely free to members of Section Five. If you are licensed in one of the forty-odd states in which CPE credits are required for renewal of your license, you save the full cost of membership dues by taking a single course!
- An Annual Essay Contest sparked initially by the "September 11th Memorial Essay Contest." (The winning essays, to be announced at the 2002 Spring meeting, will appear on our website).
- A fully informative interactive membership database is under development to facilitate knowledgeable referrals among members, particularly to geographically distant colleagues.
- Our listserv allows members to share their thoughts and concerns easily with colleagues.
- In addition to the opportunity to participate in the work of standing committees of the Section, members are encouraged to pursue matters of personal interest in ad hoc committees endorsed by the Board of Directors.
Section Five has a transparent political process and administration. All members are invited to attend meetings of the Board of Directors. We actively solicit opinions, suggestions and requests from members. We like to think of ourselves as a "user friendly" professional association. We hope you will consider joining us.
